Enel Green Power has completed and connected to the grid the Lalackama II solar photovoltaic plant, in the Antofagasta Region of Chile.
With a total capacity of 18MW, the new plant is capable of generating approximately 50GWh per year, equivalent to the annual power consumption needs of around 23,000 Chilean households, therefore avoiding the emission into the atmosphere of around 23,000 tonnes of CO2 each year. Lalackama II is supported by a contract to supply energy to private customers. The power generated by the plant will be delivered to Chile's central region transmission network (Sistema Interconnectado Central, SIC).
The facility is located near the 60MW Lalackama I photovoltaic plant. Together, the two plants will be able to generate more than 210GWh a year.
