GSL Energy announced a new Powerwall LiFePO4 lithium battery with BYD Blade cells. It has a fashionable and super-thin outlook and simplified connection ports, specially designed for residential and commercial applications. GS signed a cooperation agreement with BYD last month, a famous battery cell manufacturer that will supply GSL with the safest advanced LiFePO4 Blade cells for solar storage batteries.
This blade cell belongs to the LiFePO4 type but with a super thin character, it was under development for several years and comes with a lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) chemistry as opposed to the usual nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) mix. Instead of having multiple modules, the GSL Energy Powerwall battery with Blade cells stacks all the LiFePO4 cells together, saving over 50% space compared to other battery cells.
This new GSL Powerwall Blade Cells batteries have four various advantages:
- slow heat release
- low heat generation
- high starting temperature for exothermic reactions
- ability to not release oxygen during a breakdown
